From Syntax to Strategy: A Shift in Perspective
THE PIVOT
Last year, I began exploring Python through a traditional, hands-on approach. My focus shifted when I discovered how AI tools could accelerate the practical application — moving from writing everything manually to directing a tool to build what I envision through precise prompting.
THE ENTERPRISE CONTEXT
Late last year, "Vibe Coding" became a prominent theme across my organization, encouraging associates to explore the potential of generative AI. This organizational push allowed me to focus more deeply on professional AI toolsets.
This year, when Claude became available to all associates at my company, I took the initiative to lead a discussion with my competency group. During a screen share, I walked through real business use cases — demonstrating how the tool reasons, not just what it produces.
CURRENT PROGRESS
My exploration is currently focused on agentic and CLI-based tools — GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Gemini CLI — using real projects as the test bed rather than tutorials. The GitHub Copilot certification is one checkpoint in that ongoing practice.
A NOTE ON CCM AND AI
I am often asked how this connects to my core expertise in OpenText Exstream and CCM. Because these are highly specialized, licensed enterprise products—which are already evolving with their own integrated AI—my current practice remains focused on personal projects and real-world use cases.
I am not forcing a bridge between these worlds yet. Instead, I am building the muscle of AI-augmented engineering now, before it becomes a requirement rather than a choice.
